Biography
Jonathan Ricketts is a St. Xavier High School and Hanover College graduate. He received his Juris Doctor from the Brandeis School of Law at U of L after receiving his commission in the U.S. Navy as an Ensign.

After law school, Mr. Ricketts reported to Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island for duty with the Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps and was subsequently sworn in as a Kentucky lawyer.

Mr. Ricketts was later stationed at Naval Station Bremerton, Naval Submarine Base Bangor, and Naval Air Station Pensacola. During his active duty period, Mr. Ricketts served as a Legal Assistance Attorney, Trial Defense Counsel, Tax Attorney, Staff Judge Advocate, Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Florida, and Summary Courts-Martial Judge and Investigating Officer for investigations convened under Article 32 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Subsequent to his active duty military period, Mr. Ricketts returned to Louisville and began his private practice, and later joined forces with his father, Charlie Ricketts, in opening the Ricketts Law Offices, PLLC.

Since he began practicing law, Mr. Ricketts has deliberately cultivated a broad- based and liberal approach to his practice. He has represented clients before administrative hearings, in trial courts and at the appellate level on matters involving both civil and criminal law. He has handled adoptions, divorces and custody matters; capital murder, drug crimes, thefts, assaults and D.U.I. defense, as well as traffic court matters; disability and guardianship cases; probate and estate work; business formations and contract drafting and disputes. He has both prosecuted and defended cases. He has successfully litigated cases at every level and on varied legal issues throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Mr. Ricketts has worked hard to develop an ability to maneuver throughout the entire legal system in both state and federal courts so that the advice he gives can be complete and thorough, making sure every available legal avenue is considered and weighed.

In addition to his practice, Mr. Ricketts is active in his community and profession. He has received the KBA's Continuing Legal Education Award for eight straight years, and has presented or moderated CLE's for the benefit of his colleagues. He has been a member of the Louis D. Brandeis American Inns of Court, he has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Kentuckiana Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Cub Master for his local Cub Scout Pack, and soccer coach. Mr. Ricketts also serves as a member of the Foster Care Review Board for Jefferson County and has been appointed to Metro Louisville's Ethics Commission. Mr. Ricketts remains active in the Kentucky and Louisville Bar Associations and serves in the Navy Reserve, having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Jonathan Ricketts is an Eagle Scout.
